When Paul McCartney - who arguably kick-started the whole baroque pop genre when he recorded the likes of 'Yesterday' and 'Eleanor Rigby' with pivotal strings arrangements - made his oft-quoted remark that pop was the classical music of the 20th Century, perhaps he meant it in a more literal sense than anyone realized at the time. In the immediate wake of ground-breaking albums like Rubber Soul, Revolver and Pet Sounds, the British and American music scenes became increasingly a

Glenn Miller - Music Makers - COMPACT DISCS [CD]
24.19 USD
In 1975 EMI Music Publishing Ltd. Issued a slim, 64-page book entitled "The Music Makers Glenn Miller". It contained the sheet music of twenty of the bandleader's popular songs, ranging from Moonlight Serenade to St. Louis Blues March. As well as sheet music, there are at least six pages of text and photographs of Glenn and his civilian band and of Major Glenn and his Army Air Forces Band which was known in Europe as The American Band of the AEF. The text opens with "The Glenn Mille Sound", penned by bandleader Geoff Love whose description of how "Miller Voicing" is obtained is crystal clear. The rest of the text is "The Glenn Miller Story" in a nutshell. We thought that " The Music Makers " was such a good idea for a CD that that we have substituted Glenn's recordings for the sheet music. All we changed is the running order. We have kept the studio recordings together. Broadcast recordings, too, have their own section, as do soundtrack recordings. We hope you enjoy.
